You can use Games for Windows Marketplace version with same Microsoft account in-game. Steam version works, but is no longer supported. Online activation required only for multiplayer. The original DiRT 3 remains in players' accounts and still uses GFWL. Owners have received DiRT 3 Complete Edition for free which has no GFWL.
